Woodland is a small village
located in South West
County Durham, North East England. The village lies close to the Cumbrian
and North Yorkshire borders in an area of unspoilt countryside.
The purpose of this site is to give a brief
background to the village, especially its coal mining past. A number of
historical photographs are included in the site, many illustrating the mining
history of the village.
Photo Gallery 1 shows views of Woodland
from the beginning of the 20th century alongside views of the village today
highlighting the changes that have occurred during the last 100 years. Archive
images of Woodland are displayed in Photo Gallery 2 while Photo Gallery
3 contains archive photographs of the neighbouring village of Copley.
